 Online Research Privacy Policy Statement

  • The identities of individual respondents and their answers will be treated as confidential under all circumstances and shall only be used for research purposes (unless the respondent expressly requests or permits disclosure to a third party for other purposes).
  • In no instance will the researcher attempt to mislead the respondent.
  • Co-operation in online research is voluntary under all circumstances; in no instance will personal information be sought from, or about, the respondents without their prior knowledge and agreement.
  • The respondent is fully entitled to withdraw from the research at any point and can request for all record of information provided to be destroyed and deleted.
  • We collect IP addresses for quality control purposes (for example, to check whether respondents have completed a survey multiple times). When you log onto one of our surveys, our server logs your IP address. An IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer whenever you begin service with an Internet Service Provider.
  • Your IP address is treated in the same confidential way we treat any personal information we receive about respondents.  It is not passed on to our clients, nor is it used to identify individuals’ responses.  It is retained and stored, and deleted in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act.
  • Some of our surveys may contain cookies to ensure the integrity of our data. A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a Web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. 
  • We only use cookies for the purposes of ensuring that respondents are only able to complete a survey once. 
  • You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to complete our surveys.
  • Any information gathered from a research project, or any personal details, will be reserved exclusively for the project team, and under no circumstances will be passed on to a third party. Information will be accessed strictly for research purposes.
